Graduation [Friday Fictioneers*]

PHOTO PROMPT Copyright – Jennifer Pendergast

Launch date is finally here!

I am ready to move on.

Ready for the next stage.

Ready to taste life outside this campus.

Ready to make my mark on the world.

The celebration of human potential.

As I pass through the gate,

I suddenly find myself

blinking in the bright light,

“Mewling and puking in the nurse’s arms.”

(approx. 75 words)

 * “Friday Fictioneers” is a group, led up by Rochelle Wisoff-Fields,
where a photo prompt launches a 100 word story. 🙂

  1. Lovely surprise ending. But what a lead-in. When one thinks of what the babe in the womb has to go through for those months, graduation is an apt word to use.
And well done to all the mothers.

  2. That was great and hilarious. XD I was laughing out loud at the ending twist. It all the fit the birth of a baby so perfectly and was highly amusing from the baby’s point of view. Well written. 🙂 —Susan

  3. Sorry about that typo with the first “the” in the third sentence. I’m eagerly awaiting WordPess giving us a way to correct our typing mistakes in comments on other people’s blogs. 🙂

  4. Dear Beth,

There are graduations and then there are graduations. What a sweet surprise to find that this one was the first from an endearing POV. Well done.
